Risk Assessment

OSHA's General Duty Clause requires every employer to provide a safe working environment for all employees. The associated risk assessment examines selected equipment by evaluating possible operations hazards measured against the real risks to employees, contractors, visitors, and third-parties exposed to the equipment. The resulting hazard analysis includes recommendations for risk reduction, typically referencing applicable safety standards and OSHA regulations. Industry Standards

Industry consensus standards in the US serve a dual purpose: 1.) Provide a means of regulated safety for anyone in the vicinity of a machine, and 2.) Provide a basis for compliance uniformity. These standards are generally applied in addition to the minimal safety standards established by OSHA and are frequently incorporated as reference by OSHA for enforcement and compliance purposes.
